John Scott

John, Chair of the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute, is known for his ability to analyze and interpret complex economic and business concepts in the food supply chain, giving considerations to both the macro trends and micro-market influences that affect how and where consumers shop, what they buy and why.

In 2013, John stepped down following a lengthy tenure as CEO of Canada’s largest retail grocery association, The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers. He holds a Degree and post-graduate training in Economics from Queens University and has completed the Director’s Education Program at the University of Toronto-Rotman School of Management. Currently, he analyzes retail sector strategies, advises various firms in the supply chain and is a frequent speaker to Public entities, Non-Government Organizations (NGO’s), Processing Groups and private companies.

John is Past Chair of the acclaimed Vineland Welcomed stronger if Centre. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA), the North American Advisory Board of Monaghan Mushrooms, and is a Past Chair of Markham Stouffville Hospital. He holds the designation ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
