Climb aboard the tall ship Empire Sandy and set sail with Niagara College this June.
The College’s Part-Time Studies department has two tall ship cruises available to the public from June 6-8: a Historical Day Daytime Tall Ship Cruise and a Tall Ship Twilight Cruise.
The Historical Daytime Tall Ship Cruise to take place on Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8 will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812-1814. Noted historian professor and author Wesley Turner will guide guests along a historic route – from Port Dalhousie on Lake Ontario to the lower Niagara River – that once witnessed some of the most eventful aspects and fiercest fighting of the War of 1812 that drastically changed the way of life along the Canadian-American frontier.
Sign up for the June 7 or June 8 cruise 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (boarding at 10 a.m.) Tickets are $98 including refreshments upon boarding a mid-afternoon full-course meal and coffee/tea dessert. A cash bar is available to individuals 19 and older.
The Tall Ship Twilight Cruise to take place on June 6 offers a relaxing evening cruise on Lake Ontario from dusk until 11 p.m. Guests can enjoy a variety of appetizers a full-course dinner dessert and coffee and dance the night away to music from blues band Rich and the Poor Boys. A cash bar will be available for guests 19 and older. The cruise will depart at 7:30 p.m. (boarding at 7 p.m.). Cost is $79.
