Mary Turner is a corporate director, serving on the Board of Directors for The Stars Group Inc. and Mackenzie Financial Corporation. Mary recently retired (December 2016) from her position as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Tire Bank. During her 25 year career with Canadian Tire, Mary held progressively senior roles in finance, operations, risk management, information technology, payments, customer service, financial services and credit risk management.
Mary was a partner at Deloitte & Touche in Toronto prior to joining Canadian Tire in 1992. She is a Chartered Accountant and was awarded the FCA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Ontario. Mary has an Honours B.Sc. and is a graduate of the Chartered Director Program at McMaster University.
Mary is a Board member and Treasurer of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and a member of the Board of Governors of Niagara College, YMCA Canada and 2021 Canada Summer Games – Niagara Host Society. Mary was recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women as a Top 111 Award Winner in 2015 by the Women’s Executive Network. Mary has also been recognized for her dedication to the Niagara Voluntary Sector through the receipt of the Community Leadership Corporate Sector Award from the 2006 Peter F. Drucker Canadian Voluntary Sector Innovation Awards.
