Niagara College has joined a unique National program designed to provide financial support to the children of fallen Canadian soldiers.
Inspired by retired General Rick Hillier and Honorary Lt. Colonel Kevin Reed, Project Hero is a program through which colleges and universities offer scholarships and bursaries for dependent children of Canadian Forces personnel *killed while serving in an active military mission.
Project Hero is a way for the College to recognize the sacrifices made by Canadian men and women in defence of freedom around the world while creating opportunities for young people who may otherwise be unable to pursue their dreams. Niagara College is very proud to join this important initiative.
The scholarship program will provide tuition and help to offset other expenses for the duration of the recipient’s full-time program of study.
The Project Hero Scholarship Fund furthers Niagara College’s commitment to providing financial assistance to help students and parents with the costs associated with post-secondary education.
To be eligible, the recipient must be:
- a dependent of a Canadian Armed Forces and Reserves that was *killed while serving.
- under the age of twenty-six
- registered as a full-time student at Niagara College
For questions regarding Project Hero and eligibility, please contact Eric Silvestri by telephone at 111-111-1111, extension 7540 or by e-mail at [email protected].
* Killed while serving also includes Canadian soldiers, who while still serving in the military and having served in an active role in a domestic or international operation of the Canadian Armed Forces and Reserves any time since 2002, took their own lives where the suicides have been determined by a Board of Inquiry to be death by suicide attributable through military service.
